Occupy Atlanta Takes Home Foreclosure Fight to Chase Bank

Occupy Atlanta just scored a victory last week in getting a loan modification for a church under foreclosure in Vine City. This brings their tally up to two wins out of the four foreclosures Occupy Atlanta has fought. Occupy spokesman La’Die Mansfield says these recent victories have energized the local Occupy movement
“Well it gives us hope. It gives the people hope, but more so than that, it lets us know that the big banks do not always win.”

Occupy’s latest fight is against Chase. In November, the bank gave Elouise Pittman a four hundred thousand dollar home loan. However her family says her home is only worth a hundred thousand dollars. Pittman died after receiving the loan. Her family now lives in the house. They say Chase has told them that they can accept fifteen hundred dollars to leave the house, or pay off the four hundred thousand dollars that is owed on the loan. Chase couldn’t be reached for comment. Occupy Atlanta says that these options are unacceptable and is planning another protest on Friday.
